WinX Free VOB to MP4 Converter is a free video converter. It can open VOB files and convert them to MP4 files using two video codecs: MPEG-4 and H.264. For audio, the application uses the AAC codec. VOB files are generally the result of ripping a DVD movie the old-fashioned way: copying it to the hard drive. These VOB files are often very big in size, because they are uncompressed. These days, using encoding codecs like MPEG-4 and H.264, you can achieve a considerably smaller file size while conserving the video and audio quality.
Graphically, this converter is very plain, but it is intuitive. There is on-screen help that guides you through the ridiculously easy process. At the bottom of the screen are the conversion settings. There, you can change the format you want to use for video and change the quality settings a bit. Since it is a free converter, you won't find lots of settings to change.
In terms of performance, the video quality of converted files is great. The only problem I noticed was a small one. It has to do with audio. By default, the application increases the volume of the audio, which can cause some problems. You can easily solve this by sliding the volume bar all the way down to 0.
A free and simple tool to compress your DVD video files into smaller MPEG files.
